Nearly a private island site, this 3-acre peninsula of land sits in a picturesque, snug harbor. Ooohs and aahhs by visitors are mostly focused on the beautifully curated and layered landscaping that was a labor of love of the prior owners for more than 40 years. The existing low-slung brick house is mere backdrop for the landscaping, and our task was to refresh interiors and modernize the exterior detailing to last for the next generation. Only the existing rustic brick building skin remained untouched; new additions clad in matte stainless steel, in deference to the richly textured masonry, and dramatic landscape. Sets of large folding doors open to extensive new patios and a simple vitrine like glass sitting room thrusts you into the landscape, virtually transporting you outside comfortably in any season.
